Claudine was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1999. She currently resides in Orange County, CA and has been creating pieces ranging from pen/pencil sketches to acrylic paintings on canvas. She always felt compelled to create, from a toddler drawing on walls in her home in Manila, to an adult, painting murals in Costa Rica.
Claudine graduated from University of California Irvine with a Bachelor in Studio Arts in 2011 but did not pursue a professional career in art. She was afraid because of society’s discouraging claims that there was no future or money in art. Instead, she built a personal training business in 2016 and has serviced over 200 health & wellness clients. It seemed like the more practical approach, but as time went on, Claudine realized that she needed to create art no matter what since that brought her happiness.
As her work as an artist evolved over the years, Claudine realized that art can come in different forms and is not limited to technical, rigid practices that she learned in formal education. The pressure of creating art in traditional forms slowly dissipated. Claudine found that creating intuitive, minimalistic paintings from nature & passersby is enough to convey joy and gratitude for the simple things!
She recently discovered textured food paintings and has been drawn in ever since. Painting food and giving it 3 dimensional qualities almost mimics the process of cooking food (without the tempting aromas).
