This piece is a blend between painting and sculpture. The 3 tier cake is painted flat on the circular canvas. After the painting process, it has been carefully piped with acrylic gel mixed with acrylic as the frosting popping off the surface of the piece. Before drying, each carefully paint-sculpted strawberry is nestled into the frosting.

Just like my other food pieces, I wanted to create a piece of dessert than can live on. It’s heartbreaking to see such beautiful pieces of artfully created desserts and to know that they have an expiration date. I wanted to get rid of that expiration date and let each beautiful dish live on (hopefully forever).
