Lato (sea grapes) salad is a dish in the Philippines. I painted this because I wanted to create a scene of what it's like to eat in a seaside town in the Philippines. Banana leaves are commonly used as dining vessels too. I still haven't eaten lato by the ocean yet, but I will soon enough!
